WHO WE ARE & HISTORY

WHO WE ARE

SEA Cebu, Inc. is a non-stock, non-profit alliance of startup founders, aspiring founders, and science, technology, and innovation ecosystem stakeholders organized and strengthened through ethical standards, collaboration, and coordinated ecosystem-building.

SEA Cebu, Inc. advances the ecosystem through five priority domains: Startup Education, Networking, Mentorship, Ecosystem Metrics & Insights, and Policy & Enabling Environment, and builds local and international linkages through summits, roundtables, and working groups.

HISTORY

The Startup Ecosystem Alliance Cebu (SEA Cebu), Inc. emerged from the collective efforts of Cebu's startup ecosystem stakeholders who have been regularly convened through the Startup Ecosystem Builders (SEB) Meeting, a monthly multi-stakeholder platform initiated by DOHE. Since its inception, the SEB Meeting has served as a collaborative space where representatives from government, academe, startup communities, enablers, investors, and the private sector align initiatives, identify ecosystem gaps, and strengthen support mechanisms for startups across the region.

The initiative has been made possible through the unwavering support of its founding ecosystem partners, particularly the regional offices of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT Region VII), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI Region VII), Department of Science and Technology (DOST Region VII), and Zero Ten Park Cebu, formerly The Company Cebu, which collectively provided the platform, support, and continuity that enabled the ecosystem to grow through sustained dialogue and collaboration.

As the ecosystem matured, stakeholders recognized the need for a more formal and sustainable organization that could move beyond coordination meetings and undertake long-term ecosystem-building initiatives. This led to the establishment of SEA Cebu as a non-stock, non-profit alliance dedicated to advancing Cebu's science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.

Today, SEA Cebu serves as a collaborative platform that brings together startup founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, government, academe, industry, investors, and ecosystem enablers to catalyze startup success through integrated platforms, programs, data, access to capital, mentorship, and strategic alliances. Guided by its North Star of producing 50 startups generating at least ₱50 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within five years, SEA Cebu continues to build upon the strong collaborative foundation established through the Startup Ecosystem Builders community while remaining committed to learning, adapting, and growing alongside the ecosystem it serves.
